01 / The firm
Lateral Frontiers invests in frontier markets across Africa, LATAM and beyond, backing entrepreneurs building technology for the world’s most pressing problems.
As the firm matured, it needed a website that communicated its bold vision to founders, investors and global partners.
02 / The challenge
The old site lacked the storytelling and design maturity to reflect Lateral’s mission or portfolio. The new one had to make the mission tangible to a global audience.
03 / The approach

04 / Immersive storytelling
The site guides visitors through Lateral’s philosophy, section by section, to engage them emotionally as well as intellectually.

05 / The portfolio
The portfolio became a dynamic, filterable hub of Lateral’s companies by industry and geography.
For founders, it signals the strength of the network they’d join. For LPs, it shows the breadth and depth of Lateral’s investments.

06 / The version we didn’t ship
Early on we explored a studio version: bold animation, unconventional layouts and playful interactions. It looked exciting, but it didn’t fit founders looking for trust or investors expecting credibility.
The playful direction pulled focus from a serious investment thesis.
Big visuals slowed the site for global users on slower connections.
It risked reading as a startup, not a firm managing a multi-billion-dollar portfolio.
07 / Website to brand
The site is built on the brand we made first: the LF monogram, bold green and lemon yellow, and IBM Plex Sans.
